Joyce welcomes Felinfoel car parts jobs news - now look to future

Local Assembly Member Joyce Watson has welcomed the news that jobs at ThyssenKrupp Tallent car parts plant (known locally as Camfords) in Felinfoel are safe for at least a year.

When potential job losses were first announced in 2008, she met staff at the plant and arranged a meeting between managers and the Deputy First Minister.

Joyce Watson AM said: “The workers of ThyssenKrup are highly skilled and motivated, so I, MP Nia Griffith, and colleagues will continue to look at ways to support their long term prospects.”

Following the meeting, the Assembly Government launched the ProAct scheme, which enables companies to apply for a grant so that employees who would otherwise be made redundant or put on short-time working can receive training. Thyssen Krupp secured ProAct support in April.
