Joyce is campaigning for better stroke care in Wales. She has highlighted the "postcode lottery" in the provision of community stroke services run by the Stroke Association. The association's two services - Communication Support, which helps stroke survivors regain their speech, plus Family and Carer Support, which provides practical help and emotional support are recommended by medical bodies. Carmarthenshire and Gwynedd have both services but Ceredigion and Powys had neither. Pembrokeshire just has the Communication Support Service. Following Joyce's campaign, Powys Local Health Board agreed to fund the Family and Carer Support service for 2009/2010
