JOYCE WATSON AM HIGHLIGHTS TIDY WALES WEEK

Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales JOYCE WATSON AM is urging people to get involved with Tidy Wales Week 2008, which takes place from 23rd – 29th June.

Mrs Watson said: "Last year, tens of thousands of volunteers did their bit to clean up Wales in support of Tidy Wales Week. This year we want to get even more people involved.

"This year, over 620 clean up events have already been planned by groups across Wales. Over 290 schools, 120 community groups, 30 Communities First partnerships, 13 Police/Fire Stations and 38 public sector agencies have ordered clean-up kits.

"To organise an event, or find out what is happening locally, visit http://www.keepwalestidy.org/."

Keep Wales Tidy has produced 1000 free clean-up kits which have been sponsored by Visit Wales – the Welsh Assembly Government's tourism team – and the Environment Agency Wales. The kits are available to anybody who wants to take part and organise an event as part of the week. The kits contain information on how to organise and carry out a successful clean up including:

• Tabards – to keep you clean and tidy
• Contacts for the local authority who will provide bags, gloves etc
