Gorslas Primary school has been presented with the prestigious award of a green flag, which is a part of the eco schools programme.
The school children worked hard to make their school as environmentally friendly as possible. Their activities include recycling, composting, growing their own vegetables, raising public awareness and even sponsoring a child in Africa and raising money for the village to build a well.
Labour Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales JOYCE WATSON AM said:
"I congratulate the pupils and the teachers of Gorslas School for gaining this prestigious green flag award. These pupils are setting an example not only to the local community, but to us all in Wales.
“They are our future, and we adults must follow their lead to do everything we can to ensure a clean and bright Wales for our next generation to live in.
“I’d also like to congratulate Carmarthenshire Council for their efforts. They now have 121 schools across the county taking part in the eco schools programme, the highest number in Wales, with the highest number of green flags in Wales, 33.
"I look forward to meeting pupils from Gorslas School on the 21st of November at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay, when I hope they will tell me all about their excellent and innovative work."
