The significant building work undergone by Ystradgynlais Community Hospital has made it a facility fit for the demands of a modern hospital, Joyce Watson AM has said.
The reconstruction work to the hospital was completed in stages so as to ensure that the patients and staff were not displaced during the renovation work. Speaking after she questioned the Minister for Health and Social Services, Edwina Hart, Mrs Watson said the hospital is now a facility to be proud of and is fit for the 21st century.
Mrs Watson said, ‘The Minister was impressed by the standard of the hospital when we visited it recently. I am delighted that the morale amongst the staff has been boosted by the investment in the building. This morale boost, coupled with the standards of the building will ensure that the quality of care offered at Ystradgynlais will be as professional as possible.’
Health Minister Edwina Hart said: ‘I was very pleased to visit Ystradgynlais hospital, and I was impressed by the quality of the building; it is a much more modern building as a result of the work that was undertaken. It was a pleasure to meet the committed staff and representatives of the local community, who felt that the hospital could be developed further for additional services.’
Councillor Gwyn Gwillim said, ‘I was delighted that the Minister and our AM both took the opportunity to see the wonderful work and meet the highly dedicated staff.’
Councillor Sandra Davies commented, ‘It was a real pleasure to join in a tour of the facility that has been transformed and brought into the standard expected for the 21st Century.’
