As part of the Green Streets programme, British Gas has created a £2 million fund for community energy projects, a share of which constituents could receive.The £2m is open to 14 projects nationally where each project will receive between £100k and £200k to energise their communities and encourage them to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. British Gas is looking for applications that reduce energy, generate energy and engage the community. The programme will run for 18 months from October 2009 and the project that is able to reduce its energy consumption and carbon emissions the most will receive £100,000 to invest in more energy saving initiatives in their community.
