Mid & West Wales AM, Joyce Watson, urges those organisations that think they may be helped by funding from the Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust to submit applications to them by Monday 3rd November 2008 at 3pm.
The Trust offers grants in four main categories: Sport; The Arts; Community and the Environment. The Trust also supports Youth Exchange Programmes.
Funding is divided, with a maximum of £2,000 being offered to Local Organisations, £10,000 for regional organisations and £20,000 for National Organisations.
Joyce has welcomed the recent news from the Trust, that it has awarded, nearly £360k to 43 voluntary and charitable organisations in Wales.
Joyce Watson AM said:
“The money awarded to these organisations will be of significant benefit to them. They all provide vital support for children with disabilities, to adults battling mental health problems and to the elderly suffering from social exclusion.
“In Ceredigion, DASH, an organisation which helps organise leisure activities for disabled children and young people was awarded almost £10,000.
“Additionally in Gwynedd the Trust has helped ‘Community Football Coaching’, an organisation which works in Community First Areas, developing the skills of young people who are socially disadvantaged. ‘Community Football Coaching’ was awarded £9,500.
“It is clear that the Trust can make a difference to people’s lives and I encourage organisations to start applying to the Trust for such similar support”
Since its establishment in 2001, the Trust, has awarded more than £2.5 million to 590 organisations in every unitary authority area in Wales. It has improved the quality of life of those working and living in Wales.
