Labour Assembly Member for Carmarthenshire JOYCE WATSON AM is welcoming the recent £115,156 lottery grant to give new opportunities for Carmarthen people with learning disabilities under the Big Lottery’s People and Places Fund.
The project is to support people who have learning disabilities to have paid work, work experience placements or voluntary work in Carmarthen.
The project will provide increased opportunity for people with learning disabilities to develop their skills, gain confidence and self esteem and dispel some of the myths about the ability of individuals who have learning disabilities. It will also provide alternative opportunities from the day centres for meaningful activities during the day.
Mrs Watson said:
“I am delighted that Carmarthenshire People First have won this lottery grant.
“People with learning disabilities have a lot to offer and deserve to live full lives and contribute to society. This project will help them do so.”
