Due to Remploy’s announcement that it had submitted its proposals, with the Brynamman and Ystradgynlais factories still set to close, Joyce Watson Labour AM for Mid and West Wales has organised a meeting with Guy Philips, Remploy's company secretary on Friday 30th November 2007.
Joyce said:
"I am disappointed at this announcement but the fight isn't over yet and I am determined we can find some way forward.
"The meetings I had with local representatives and council officers led to them drawing up solid proposals, so I want to know why Remploy management have ignored them.
"I am committed to doing my best to protect these vulnerable workers in any way practical.
"The general outcry against this move should tell Remploy management to reconsider, and I hope next week's meeting will help get the best deal for these workers."
Joyce Watson is also seeking a meeting with the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Peter Hain.
