The economic downturn has affected most people but Joyce’s concerns recently have focussed on a group of workers in Llanelli.
Up to 30 job losses were announced at Thyssen Krupp car parts plant in late September 08. In addition, other works are facing the possibility of being failed off for extended periods without pay and support for re-training. A total of 91 of the 150 workers are over 50 and Joyce is concerned that they will have difficulties finding new work.
Joyce has called on the First Minister to make sure that these workers and others throughout Wales who face similar difficulties have access to retraining.
Welsh Businesses
Joyce is also continuing to champion businesses that help to hold up the Welsh rural economy like the award-wining organic Daioni milk producing farm in Pembrokeshire plus Trefere Fawr farm shop near Cardigan.I am committed to helping these businesses survive.
